Me and Genghis Khan is one of those “it’s complicated” love song that many people really seem to love, and I always look forward to singing it, either slow, fast, polka, swing, metal—it is just one of those songs holds up regardless of the arrangement.
lyrics
ME and GENGHIS KHAN
J SHOGREN
Director’s second collaboration with the graphic novelist
was about a hapless art student named Jerome
who refused to give up his dream of being the world's greatest artist
so he spent his nights and days painting drunk alone
if you got the men and the ships, I’ve got the sea
everything else we need we’ll plunder
I know you’re thinkin we’ll turn back eventually
But it’s your vision of love I will always remember
I’ve got the blues in three different ways
Two minds to leave, one to stay
me and Genghis Kahn woulda gotta along haphazardly
your vision of love I won’t let me be
Willim met a waitress, who was outta work awhile
Iceberg of love, tattooed across her shoulder
every morning for breakfast, she served up a smile
Well, he loved this woman so much he almost told her
if you got the men and the ships, I’ve got the sea
everything else we need we’ll plunder
I know you’re thinkin we’ll turn back eventually
But it’s your vision of love I will always remember
I’ve got the blues in three different ways
Two minds to leave, one to stay
me and Genghis Kahn would have got along haphazardly
your vision of love I won’t set me free
I’ve got the blues in three different ways
Two minds to leave, one to stay
me and Genghis Kahn woulda gotta along haphazardly
your vision of love I won’t let me be
You vision of love I won’t let me be
