Burnt Fields
J Shogren (Jahajunti music, ASCAP, 2010)
Tell me what’s wrong
Tell me too late
Tell me I’m wrong
To leave this place
My fields been burned
I see the rain
I hear the flood
Can’t do me no good
Never seen this much mud
My fields been burned
Take my troubles, Lift them above my head
Moses & Jacob
They had a vision
they carved some tablets
still a mystery to me
My fields been burned
I’ll be your hand
on day when
Work as we know it
Has come to an end
My fields been burned
Tell me no rain
Tell me no flood
Can’t do me no good
Never seen this much mud
My fields been burned
Take my troubles, and Lift them above my head
Tell me what’s wrong
Tell me what’s right
Tell me I’m not wrong
To leave this place tonight
My fields been burned
Take my troubles, and
Lift them above my head
Holding Tank
J Shogren (ASCAP, 2012)
Take me down to the holding tank
Just to think I wanted one more drink
Take me down to the holding tank
Just to think I wanted one more drink
She likes to sleep
when the sun comes up
Just roll her over
And butter her up
I’d like to live
just one more day
let her sleep till
She’s wide awake
Take me down to the holding tank
Just to think I wanted one more drink
Take me down to the holding tank
Just to think I wanted one more drink
I will (I will)
I will love you (I will love you)
I will love you till I sober up
Take me down to the holding tank
Just to think I wanted one more drink
Take me down to the holding tank
Just to think I wanted one more drink
She likes to make
her biscuits in bed
Half a pound butter
& a bowl of lead
I suppose it’s fine when
She curses my name
Just let me sleep till
I’m wide awake
Take me down to the holding tank
just to think I wanted one more drink
take me down to the holding tank
just to think I wanted one more drink
I will (I will)
I will love you (I will love you)
I will love you till I sober up
I will (I will)
I will love you (I will love you)
I will love you till I sober up
Take me down to the holding tank
Take me down to the holding tank
about
Hello again friends and neighbors
We return with the 3rd Restrung-Resung-Remixed-Remastered: BURNT FIELDS & HOLDING TANK. Originally recorded and mixed at the Thunderground Sound Studio by Dan Tinker in Laramie (WY), we revisited two favorite ripsnorters.
BURNT FIELDS – has always been one of my favorites. I wrote it in Stockholm of all places, staring out the window, thinking about how to overcome the confusion you dump on yourself and others. Unlikely I sorted it all out. The Jalan Crossland Band circa 2009 played on this entire album, and they were the hottest thing going in Wyoming at the time. It was a pleasure and terror to work with this amazing trio. Sink or swim.
HOLDING TANK is another ripper we have always play at live shows since it lures people straight out to the dance floor. This version is with a lot of the original band members—Mandy, Kelli, Jascha, Shaun, and we recruited Ansel Foxley (Patti Fiasco, Green Street Majority) to come back up the mountain to help us out on resonator. “I’ll love you till I sober up”…yeah, I guess—love is still complicated. Robert Kirkwood and friends pulled together a cool Buckhorn Bar-based video on this one: youtu.be/v4XGz017-Cg - if you know anything about Laramie, you know the Buckhorn. And if you do not know the Buckhorn, well….shhhh.
